About the job
We're seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to join our team. As the most senior technical person on the team this role will predominantly focus on plastic processing, ensuring the successful integration and application of our bio-based materials in various plastic manufacturing processes. The role will also involve participating in, and overseeing our future R&D efforts, as well as responsibility for technical questions related to production. You will be leading the technical team with one Application Engineer and one Product Development Engineer.
Main Responsibilities
Lead Biofiber Tech material development & application efforts in thermoplastic product manufacturing processes.
Actively support Biofiber Tech’s sales by providing technical product application guidance with various players in the plastic industry and end-use brand owners.
Lead & execute material trials both internally and externally with Biofiber Tech commercial partners/customers of plastic and compounders/injection molders.
Monitor competitive technology and product landscape and identify new product development and market application opportunities.
Develop and implement quality management systems for scaling up production.
Report to the CEO.
Job requirements
PhD/MSc in polymer science, chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or a related discipline.
7+ years of plastics industry experience, including leading technical and production teams.
Solid technical and practical knowledge in thermoplastic polymer or bio-composite material processing and characterisation, preferably through a combination of academic and commercial plastic product manufacturing companies.
Excellent communication & problem-solving skills, initiative-taking, and a passion to drive impact innovation for a sustainable environment.
Project leadership/coordination skills and enjoyment of tackling both technical and market-related challenges.
